Description
Depot Square was designed with the preservation of Evanston’s history in mind. Newly refurbished Union Pacific Depot is the centerpiece of the square, and a UPRR dining car and caboose will be restored for use as a restaurant. The Beeman-Cashin building, a historic wooden structure built in 1883, hosts ballet, wedding receptions and other community activities. The Carnegie Library, built in 1906, now serves as the Chamber of Commerce and Uinta County museum. A gazebo in Martin Park, on the west end, is an area for concerts and picnics. The bandstand hosts weekly concerts. A replica Joss House, a Chinese sacred temple, serves as a Chinese museum and information center. Depot Square is designed to encourage people to stroll through the area and experience the history and nostalgia of the area.
