The Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming manages between 400 and 600 horses in the White Mountain Herd. When the herd exceeds 600 they are round up and sent out for adoption. These horses are in great demand. I found this small herd on the Great Divide Basin. There are a full range of colors is present. The Wyoming horses have a diverse background of many domestic horse breeds. They are most closely related to North American gaited breeds such as Rocky Mountain Horse, American Saddlebred, Standardbred, and Morgan. The horses weigh between 750 and 1,100 pounds mature weight. The health of the horses is good.

Judy, I'm glad you noticed that. It wasn't until I traveled to Wyoming and saw first hand that I even realized wild horses had scars. Every photo I had ever seen did not show that. I thought they were beautiful anyway. Thanks.
